It seems donating Mustangs for charity is all the rage these days. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! recently posted an inspiring story, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but let's not forget the nearly 2.5 million raised by EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) in an effort to raise awareness and motivate kids to follow their dreams to fly or build aircraft.

Among the many auction lots at the Gathering of Eagles 2013 gala, include VIN 0001, Air Force Thunderbirds themed 2014 Mustang GT, a formation flight with Yves "Jetman" Rossy, and flights with aerobatic pilot Sean D. Tucker and Red Bull air racer Kirby Chambliss.

Not to mention a Earnhardt/Ganassi NASCAR experience for 2 with private jet transportation. Oh an don't forget one lucky bidder earned the chance to fly in the worlds only aerobatic helicopter with Chuck Aaron in his highly modified Red Bull Eurocopter.

The one-0f-a-kind Mustang features U.S. Air Force Thunderbird markings, matching the livery of the Thunderbirds paint job, and celebrating the 60th anniversary of the military's jet demo team. The only other modifications from a stock GT are several of Ford's high performance options, larger wheels, and custom metal belly pan with famous thunderbird logo, in leu of the standard plastic underside.

They've done quite a few of those EAA Mustangs. A friend of mine did the interior on this one, from 2008:

I think in 2008, that Mustang brought in $500k, but my favorite was the 2010 SR-71 Blackbird themed Mustang, developed in a collaboration between Shelby and Roush.
